The story of 3 Bay
When passion, craftsmanship and innovation come together to create the benchmark for Stand-Up Paddle in Europe
At the beginning of 3 Bay, a clear and assertive ambition emerged: to become THE EUROPEAN REFERENCE in the custom manufacturing of Stand-Up Paddle, Rescue and Prone Paddle boards. Under the direction of Patrice Remoiville, the company was founded in a modern workshop in Plescop, near Vannes, Brittany, where quality craftsmanship and innovation meet to offer custom-made boards adapted to all practices.
A passion turned into a profession

Patrice Remoiville, affectionately nicknamed “Roro”, is no novice in the world of surfing. Born in Bayonne, he was immersed in the world of water sports from a very young age, and it was at the age of 16 that he made his first windsurfing board. His career really took off when he co-founded Koungat Surfboards with his friend Pierre Cazadieu in Vieux-Boucau in 1987. This first artisanal surfboard manufacturing company marked the beginning of a long adventure in shaping, or the art of carving boards.
His professional career has led him to collaborate with iconic figures in surfing, including Maurice Cole at RIP CURL in Capbreton, and later to work at PUKAS in Spain as a laminator. Building on these experiences, Patrice then founded RORO GLASS in 1994, a company specializing in surfboard lamination. In 1998, he took a new step by creating SURFOAM, becoming the first French manufacturer of “polyurethane foam blocks,” the essential material for making boards.

The birth of 3 Bay: a new adventure
In 2015, Patrice decided to embark on a new entrepreneurial adventure, marked by his return to craftsmanship and custom production. After leaving his position as Stand-Up Paddle Product Manager at BIC SPORT, he returned to his first passion: shaping. This is how 3 Bay Paddle was born, a company dedicated to the manufacture of custom SUP Race, Rescue, and Prone Paddle boards.
Why the name 3 Bay? Patrice wanted to pay tribute to three bays that have marked his personal and professional journey. First, the Gulf of Morbihan, where he now lives. Then, Byron Bay, in Australia, a legendary location for surfers from around the world. Finally, Bayonne, his hometown, anchored in his heart. Each of these bays symbolizes a part of his history, his passions, and his love for the ocean.
A unique workshop in the heart of Brittany
Located in Plescop, near Vannes, the 3 Bay workshop is a place of creation, innovation, and repair. Patrice builds custom boards there, up to 20 feet long, according to the specific needs of each client. Whether for SUP Racing, surfing, touring, or even coastal rescue, each board is a unique object, designed with care and attention to detail.
Customers can choose the dimensions, materials, and even the decorations of their board. This custom service, combined with artisanal manufacturing in France, sets 3 Bay apart from many other brands that mass-produce abroad. In addition, 3 Bay also offers a repair service for all brands, providing comprehensive support to stand-up paddle enthusiasts.

A brand based on strong values

3 Bay isn’t just a board manufacturing company; it’s a brand built on strong values: craftsmanship, quality, and authenticity. Patrice prides himself on using high-quality materials, and each board is handcrafted with a constant focus on perfection. This artisanal, custom-made approach appeals to many SUP enthusiasts, both in France and abroad.
Closeness to customers is also at the heart of 3 Bay’s identity. Patrice has created a true community of loyal customers, who share the same values and the same passion for board sports. 3 Bay’s customers are not just buyers; they are friends, brand ambassadors, who gather at events like the 3 Bay Weekend, held every year in Brittany. This conviviality, this family spirit, contributes to making 3 Bay a unique brand.
Innovation in the service of performance
If 3 Bay is today recognized as a benchmark in SUP Racing, it is also thanks to Patrice’s constant commitment to innovation. Each board is designed to offer the best performance on the water, while being perfectly adapted to the needs of each rider. Whether it’s a competitive SUP, touring or surfing board, 3 Bay boards stand out for their lightness, their speed, and their stability.
Among the brand’s notable achievements, we can mention Florent Dode, one of 3 Bay’s ambassadors, who holds the world record for the number of kilometers covered in 24 hours in a SUP Race. This exceptional performance is a testament to the quality of the boards manufactured by the Breton workshop and Patrice’s expertise in shaping. The young champion, Anaïs Guyomarch, joined Team 3 Bay a few years ago. A multiple French champion, she shines internationally. Each year, with her help, Patrice develops new prototypes to help her progress.

A diverse range to meet all needs
In addition to SUP Race boards, 3 Bay also offers a diverse range of boards, such as prone paddles, designed for sport rescue and competition, SUP Surf, and tandems.
In recent years, 3 Bay has also expanded its offering with SUP Foil and Wing Foil boards, two booming disciplines. Always at the forefront of innovation, Patrice develops specific models for these new practices, while remaining faithful to his commitment to local, artisanal manufacturing.
A commitment to the future of SUP
One of Patrice’s goals is to contribute to the development of SUP Racing in France, particularly by facilitating access for young practitioners. Aware that this discipline is experiencing a certain slowdown in terms of new generations, he is working on the creation of accessible and high-performance boards, specially designed for under 15s and clubs.
With this in mind, Patrice regularly participates in SUP events and competitions, where he presents his innovations and introduces his creations to enthusiasts. The Dordogne Intégrale, the 10h de Vassivière and the Yaka Paddle are all opportunities for him to share his passion and promote his brand.
3 Bay, a benchmark in the making
In just a few years, 3 Bay has become a key reference in the world of Stand-Up Paddle in France and Europe. Thanks to the expertise of Patrice Remoiville, his commitment to craftsmanship, and his personalized approach, the Breton company has earned a place of choice among the biggest names in SUP.
Whether through the quality of its boards, constant innovation, or its close relationship with its customers, 3 Bay embodies authentic values that make the difference in an increasingly competitive market. The adventure is only just beginning for 3 Bay.
